Situated along the banks of Four Mile Creek, is one of Bray Parks best kept secrets, John Bray Park. With wide-open grassy spaces, tall shady trees, a creek and newly landscaped pathways, BBQ and playground area, this park has something to offer everyone! Accessible from Kensington Way and neighbouring side street, the park is a short walk from the nearby shopping centre and service station. Best of all, it is a patchwork quilt of pathways, making it the ideal location for an afternoon bike ride.

Stay and Play

The playground facilities at John Bray Park are lovely, with a mix of synthetic and natural soft fall materials used. Kids can enjoy a slippery slide, spin, or simply spider climb the rope structure. There is also a basketball court and cricket field for older children to enjoy. Or bring the footy for a game of touch.

John Bray Park is also home to a Disc Golf Course, the second course to be found in the Strathpine area (the other is located at Pine Rivers Park). This 18-hole Disc Golf Course is spread throughout the park between Samsonvale Road and Kensington Way. Simply bring along a frisbee and get started!

Picnic in the Park

With its gas BBQ and picnic shelter, John Bray Park is a lovely spot to host a kid’s birthday party or a Sunday arvo get together. However, just remember that you cannot park close, so bring a trolley to make transporting your picnic items easier on the back.

Nature play at John Bray Park

Kids will have great fun exploring nature around this parkland. There are ducks, magpies, kookaburras and many other bird species that call the park home. They might spot small native fish in the creek, see colourful bugs and butterflies, or see a frilled neck lizard sunbaking.

The park is even home to a large mulberry tree! Aside from exploration, the newly landscaped playground has a wonderful nature element, with a maze of balancing boulders, timbers and bamboo’s. There’s even a native frog haven!

History of John Bray Park

The park is named after ‘John Bray’ a former local councillor from 1950-73. John Bray was a key figure overseeing the postwar urbanisation of the region and in 1970 the name Bray Park was gazetted as a suburb of the Moreton Bay Region.
