About Puppetry and performance with Dead Puppet Society

Join visual theatre masterminds Dead Puppet Society to design and construct your own puppet character and learn the basics of performance in this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn simple puppet prototyping techniques and design and build an articulated creature using readily available materials to exquisite effect. Using simple hinge joins and brown paper, characters will evolve, props will be built and costumes will be added. Participants will then work together to explore the principles of puppetry and bring their characters to life! All participants will keep their puppet creations. Dead Puppet Society is an Australian based production house and design company with international reach. They create deeply imaginative visual theatre, public art and sculpture, combining old school craftsmanship with cutting edge technology. Limited spaces available. Book your spot via the website or call (07) 3883 5670. This event is run in conjunction with The Dark Room - a space to play with light, shadows and storytelling! Discover the development of the camera and the ways artists use photography to tell a story. Image credit: Photo by Maren Searle.
