5:00am 25th April - 12:00pm 25th April
The Redcliffe RSL Sub-Branch is pulling out all the stops to host the annual Anzac Day service again this year after a break last year due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
As the official host of the peninsula’s Anzac parades and services, the Redcliffe RSL will be hosting one of Queensland’s largest and most poignant Anzac Day services along the Redcliffe waterfront.
The annual Dawn Service is a unique event taking place by the waterfront along Redcliffe’s peninsula at Anzac Park. The service will start at 5.30am, following a short march by veterans from Baker St at 5.15am.
Only invited guests will be permitted in the cordoned off area and space will be allocated for those with mobility issues.
VIPs will be permitted to lay wreaths alongside Redcliffe RSL president Neville Cullen. Everyone else will have an opportunity to lay wreaths after the ceremony.
The Sub-Branch is working closely with Queensland Health on a COVID-Safe plan for the Dawn Service.
Please be aware the mid-morning service and march along with its Woody Point service will not go ahead in 2021. The RSL has also cancelled its cemetery service, which usually takes place the weekend before Anzac Day.
The RSL will still host its Gunfire Breakfast after the ceremony, with veterans and their families to be given preference and allowed to enter first. If there is room, others will be allowed to enter. Those attending are asked to make a gold coin donation which will be passed on to Legacy.
Redcliffe RSL will be open after the service, with two-up starting at 1pm.
Grab a table inside Redcliffe RSL’s Gallipoli Grill, Breezes Café, The Point Café Bar Restaurant, or the Sports Lounge and chow down on some modern Australian fare.
There will be limited seating capacity and while the RSL would love to welcome everyone, it is encouraging those at high risk and others to tune into the service which will be broadcast on community radio station 99.7FM.
Salute the Anzac diggers over a cold one at the Outdoor Two-Up Bar scheduled to open-up in Redcliffe RSL’s loading dock/car park after the main Anzac Parade and Anzac Service comes to a close. The Redcliffe RSL QLD sub-branch will welcome all Anzac event attendees onto the premises to mingle until late.
There won’t be parking at Redcliffe Showground this year, as its Sunday markets will be running, but there will be parking at Pearson Park, Klingner Rd (adjacent to the TAFE campus). SES will be onsite to assist, but there won’t be a shuttle bus.
Disability parking will be available across the road from Redcliffe Police Station.
Please note: we strive to be as accurate as possible with the Anzac service information, however events are subject to change. If in doubt please contact the event organiser, Redcliffe RSL on (07) 3897 6000 or (07) 3897 6060 or visit www.redcliffersl.com.au
