A Brendale business that makes wireless in-ground geotechnical monitoring systems has been recognised for their efforts at the 2022 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards.

Elexon Mining was announced as the winner in the Solar Bollard Lighting Award for Exporting Excellence at the awards ceremony at the Eatons Hill Hotel on Friday, October 21.

Managing Director at Elexon Group of Companies Pieter Kuiper said the win was great recognition for his team.

“We couldn’t win this without the fantastic team that we have,” Pieter said.

Since forming in 2006, Elexon Mining has worked collaboratively with some of the industry’s leading research organisations and mine companies with systems now deployed across the globe including in Australia, Canada, Indonesia, South Africa, Chile, Sweden and the United States.

Elexon Mining’s systems provide invaluable data that empowers mining companies to make well founded decisions to improve safety, efficiency and resource conversion.

“We are the only ones in the world that have achieved what we have been able to achieve,” Pieter said.

“We can make electronic products that go into the ground and be 60cms away from the explosives that are shattering rock, one kilometre under the ground, and our products survive that and communicate wirelessly through the ground and tell people what is going on.

“At the moment we are actually developing a whole new generation of our product that is going to be even better suited to open pits and tailings dams.”

About the awards
