Moreton Bay Regional Council is calling on local businesses to share their experiences to help shape a regional economic roadmap through COVID-19 and build a stronger economic future for the region.
The online survey, which has been developed in partnership with Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) and Regional Development Australia (RDA) Moreton Bay, will help the newly-established Moreton Recovery Working Group understand the impacts of COVID-19 and identify what support local businesses need to recover and grow.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Peter Flannery says the online survey is twofold; identifying immediate recovery action required and collecting data to establish a 20-year economic roadmap for the region.
“This survey will help inform development of a Regional Economic Development Strategy; a project I announced will be delivered within the first 100 days of the new council,” he explains.
“If you own or operate a business in Moreton Bay Region, we want to hear from you via a short online survey. Feedback will also be used to identify opportunities to build a world-class knowledge and innovation hub.
“We’re putting the community at the heart of economic recovery decision making by asking local businesses what they see as the region’s strengths, challenges and opportunities. A long-term economic plan is everyone’s business, which is why council has undertaken a comprehensive consultation process with many of the region’s economic stakeholders.
“The message is clear: Moreton Bay Region is ready to bounce back, and we want our business community to tell us what they need to do that.”
MBRIT CEO and RDA Moreton Bay Chair Shane Newcombe says the survey will help Business Moreton Bay Region better understand the training and development needs of the business community as operators emerge from the pandemic.
“I invite all 33,000 registered local businesses to share their COVID-19 experience and help shape the region’s future by completing the short online survey,” he says.
“By completing the survey, you go into the draw to win an advertising package with Moreton Life magazine worth $10,000. Now, that’s worth 10 minutes of your time.
“MBRIT is also investing an extra $50,000 into our free professional workshop program in 2020-21 to help meet the evolving needs of our business community.”

The survey is open now and closes Monday, June 8, 2020.
