$20m highway upgrades to start

Work will start this month on $20 million of upgrades to the D’Aguilar Highway between Woodford and Bracalba.

It will improve the road surface and underlying pavement over two sections of the highway which is used by close to 13,000 motorists a day.

Transport and Main Roads’ (TMR) will rehabilitate 2.3km of highway, known as Archer St, through Woodford, from Peterson Rd to Mary St.

It is expected to take four months while upgrades to 1.4km of highway near Bracalba Quarry should take around seven months, weather permitting.

Early works are scheduled to start this month, with main construction to follow.

"The D'Aguilar Highway is a strategic link in Queensland's state-controlled road network, linking the Bruce Highway to Caboolture, Wamuran, D’Aguilar, Woodford and Kilcoy,” TMR North Coast Regional Director Scott Whitaker said.

“It also forms part of a vital freight route servicing the local area and the Darling Downs region.

“Rehabilitating key arterial roads like the D'Aguilar Highway is important for extending the life of the road and ensuring a safer journey for all road users.”

The director said works near Bracalba Quarry adjoin a 2.8km section of resurfacing and rehabilitation completed late last year.

TMR is funding the latest work through the Pavement Rehabilitation program.
