Our Story

Moreton Daily was founded in 2020 by Shane Newcombe.

For more than 20 years, he has been a catalyst for culture, connection and growth across the region. He founded some of Moreton Bay’s most iconic festivals, established the region’s tourism body and played a leading role in shaping the identity and confidence of Moreton Bay, all through a non-profit model designed to give back to the community.

Dolphins News Team
The Dolphins News team, the foundation of what would become Moreton Daily.

Before Moreton Daily, Shane led Dolphins News, a free community newspaper delivered fortnightly to 150,000 homes, grounded in the idea that local news should feel local and be accessible to everyone. When Covid-19 hit, that belief was tested.

In 2020, Shane and the team launched Moreton Bay Tough, a community-led initiative created to support residents and local businesses during uncertain times. It connected people to practical help and highlighted the resilience of the region.

Out of that moment, Moreton Daily was born, with Belinda Boyce part of the founding leadership team, guiding partnerships and marketing from day one.

What began as a response to crisis quickly became a dedicated digital platform focused on sharing the stories that matter when you live here.

Over time, the brand has evolved across multiple print publications including Moreton Life and The Redcliffe Peninsula magazine, each carrying the same commitment to community pride and independent local storytelling.

Now in 2026, with Belinda Boyce at the helm, Moreton Daily attracts more than 2 million visits a year and publishes a quarterly magazine, continuing to grow alongside the region it serves.

At every stage, from doorstep newspapers to daily digital headlines, the mission has remained consistent, champion local people, shine a light on business, schools and sporting clubs, and celebrate the community groups and everyday leaders making a difference across Moreton Bay.

Moreton Daily exists because Shane believed this region deserved its own platform, built by locals, for locals.
