Albany Creek church celebrates landmarks and legacy

Two milestones have been celebrated at a prominent Moreton Bay church which has honoured its “visionary” founding priest.

All Saints at Albany Creek has marked the 40th anniversary of the parish foundation (January 4, 1986) and 30th anniversary of the church’s blessing and dedication (April 26, 1996).

A plaque honouring the parish’s founding priest Fr Ron Mollison was also blessed and the parish centre named The Mollison Centre.

The plaque now hangs beneath Fr Ron Mollison’s portrait in the centre.

Many of Fr Ron’s family attended the mass on February 22 which paid tribute to his 34 years of service. They were joined by Archbishop of Brisbane Shane Mackinlay.

Fr Ron, who retired in 2020 due to ill health, passed away on June 17, 2025, had declined such recognition during his lifetime.

Louise Power, Fr Ron’s niece, said her family was “so delighted to see our wonderful uncle, Fr Ron Mollison, honoured so beautifully”.

“Fr Ron was a truly visionary man, especially in starting the Parish from such humble beginnings,” she said.

“It was great to see the slideshow showing the development of All Saints’ School and All Saints Parish and be invited to celebrate such an occasion with the beautiful faith community he grew.”

Despite most of the family living “on the other side of Brisbane, or out of Brisbane”, Louise said: “We have always felt so welcome at All Saints.

“We can see Ron’s legacy in action - always making people feel welcome.

“He was a man of humility with many talents, and a great sense of humour - we all miss him terribly.”

Parish Priest Fr Joson Antony said: “He (Fr Ron) recognised building a parish meant building community — not only creating physical spaces, but nurturing relationships rooted in faith, hope, and love.

“I believe that this anniversary is both a celebration and a time of renewal.”
