Anzac Avenue resurfacing works to start late January

Motorists travelling through Rothwell and Mango Hill are being advised of upcoming night works on Anzac Avenue, with asphalt resurfacing scheduled to begin in late January 2026.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has confirmed works will take place along approximately three kilometres of Anzac Avenue, between Diamond Jubilee Way and Kinsellas Road East in Mango Hill and Finnegan Street in Rothwell.

When works will take place

  • Night works: Sunday to Thursday

  • Time: 6pm to 6am

  • Duration: Late January to mid-2026, weather permitting

Some day and weekend works may also be required.

What drivers need to know

During construction, motorists can expect:

  • Changed traffic conditions and lane closures at times

  • Reduced speed limits through work zones

  • Traffic control and signage in place

Drivers are encouraged to:

  • Allow extra travel time

  • Follow all traffic signage and directions

  • Take care when travelling through the work zone

Why the works are happening

According to TMR, the resurfacing works aim to:

  • Improve road surface quality

  • Reduce ongoing maintenance costs

  • Deliver a smoother and safer driving experience

No changes will be made to intersection layouts, signage or line marking as part of this project.

TMR has acknowledged the disruption and thanked residents, businesses and road users for their patience while works are carried out.

Residents and road users seeking more information can contact the project team on 5451 7055 during business hours or email northcoast@tmr.qld.gov.au.
