Bringing World Cup to Redcliffe

Redcliffe will host elite junior international hockey when the World Cup comes to the Mary Nairn Fields later this year.

The Oceania Hockey Federation (OHF) is bringing the 2026 Under 21 Junior World Cup Qualifier to Moreton Bay from September 28 to October 4.

In partnership with Redcliffe Hockey Club and City of Moreton Bay, it will feature junior national teams from across the Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand.

Teams will compete in an 11-a-side format at the Oxley Avenue grounds, to qualify for the FIH Junior World Cup.

On the OHF website, CEO Craig Gribble said: “This tournament is a vital pathway for emerging athletes aiming to compete on the world stage as we build towards Brisbane 2032.

“Hosting the qualifiers in Redcliffe provides a unique platform for high-performance competition while also strengthening hockey across Oceania.”

Mayor Peter Flannery said: “Hosting the Oceania Junior World Cup Qualifiers is a significant opportunity for City of Moreton Bay, bringing teams, officials and supporters from across Oceania to Redcliffe and delivering valuable economic benefits for our local businesses.

“We are delighted to welcome this international tournament to City of Moreton Bay as we continue build our reputation as a destination for major sporting events.”
