Caboolture’s alt-rockers unleash a new track

A young alternative rock trio from Caboolture have unleashed their new single today.

The Phosphenes are a three piece alternative rock band with local talent: Reece Depasquale (Lead Guitar & Vocals), Toby Vinton (Drums) and Rosie Bowman (Bass).

Formed in the suburbs with a whole lot of teenage angst, The Phosphenes are now developing their sound across South East Queensland.

With a growing list of support slots and festival appearances, the band has been part of a broader wave of young artists emerging through live music and grassroots venues across Moreton Bay.

The new single titled DYV opens with a heavy drums and a doomed descending guitar tone, leaning into a raw, garage-influenced style.

It is gritty and soaked in attitude, like the opening scene of a 2000s coming-of-age film where everything’s about to go off the rails.

The memorable guitar riff after the first chorus is such a hit and even more of a standout live.

I got to catch the band play at a recent Garage Party gig at Greaser, and their live performance radiated youth and restlessness driven by an electric back-and-forth between the trio.

As more young musicians continue to emerge from Caboolture and the wider Moreton Bay area, acts like The Phosphenes are becoming part of an expanding local music scene.

To celebrate the new single release, The Phosphenes have upcoming shows for their ‘Bring Peace to the East (Coast)’ tour - tickets are now on sale now via their social media.

Don’t miss them also play local at the Where We Belong Festival in Redcliffe with the Screaming Jets.
