Check out Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft simulator

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is bringing its aircraft simulator to Narangba this weekend as its Round Up fundraiser takes off.

Shoppers at Woolworths Narangba will be able to look inside the life-size replica of a RFDS aircraft on Saturday, June 11 from 7am-noon.

It comes as the supermarket chain runs the Round Up fundraiser which enables customers who spend more than $30 at self-checkouts to round up their bill to the nearest dollar in support of RFDS Queensland Section.

The promotion started on June 8 and runs until June 21.

Customers can donate any amount all year round by using the donate button on any register or asking the checkout operator for assistance.

Money raised will be used to ensure the RFDS has the latest medical equipment and aircraft and for staff training.

RFDS Queensland Section CEO Meredith Staib says: “The fundraising received through Woolworths is critical in helping us meet the costs associated with running the RFDS’ emergency and healthcare service.

“We rely heavily on the generosity of individuals, community groups, businesses and the corporate sector and are incredibly appreciative of this support.

“All funds raised this year will help the Royal Flying Doctor Service continue to deliver lifesaving care to Queenslanders across the state, no matter where they live - 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

The RFDS has been saving lives in regional, rural, and remote Australia for 94 years, providing access to primary health care and aeromedical services.

Its emergency retrieval service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, delivering care to more than 330,000 Australians each year — that’s one person every two minutes.
