COVID-19 jabs begin in Moreton Bay Region
Moreton Bay Region’s first Covid-19 vaccination clinic opened today at Redcliffe Hospital.
Health Minister and Redcliffe MP Yvette D’Ath says the clinic is among several more to open across the state this week.
Mrs D’Ath says the Redcliffe COVID-19 vaccine clinic is initially aimed at those serving on the pandemic’s frontline.
Frontline workers first
“The Redcliffe COVID-19 vaccine clinic initially is for our priority phase 1a group, including our hotel quarantine and frontline health workers,” Mrs D’Ath says.
“We thank them for their support in keeping our community safe.”
A Metro North Health spokeswoman says those to be vaccinated under the category 1 rollout at Redcliffe include personnel from Brisbane Airport, the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and the Australian Defence Force.
"All staff will have the opportunity to be vaccinated as soon as possible," she said.
The COVID-19 vaccination program began on February 21, with 8300 administered across Queensland by March 7.
Encouraging vaccination
Mrs D’Ath says as the COVID-19 vaccine rollout progresses from category 1a to 1b across Queensland, people will receive information about how to book their appointment to have the vaccine.
“I encourage everyone in our community who is eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine when their time comes. I know I will,” Mrs D’Ath says.
