Dickson Community Award winners

Locals have been recognised for their contribution to the communities in which they live, work, study and volunteer at this year’s Dickson Community Awards held in conjunction with the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at Samford.

The awards honoured 12 individuals, businesses and community groups whose efforts made them every day ‘local heroes.’

The 2023 Dickson Citizen of the Year was Kevin Humphreys. Kevin is a former ADF Black Hawk and Chinook helicopter pilot and a mental health advocate.

Federal Member for Dickson Peter Dutton congratulated the recipients and thanked them for their service.

“These awards celebrate the achievements, talents and drive of ordinary people, businesses and organisations who have made extraordinary contributions in what has been another challenging year,” Mr Dutton said.

“It is right that we recognise and give thanks to these unsung heroes in our wonderful community, those who are compassionate, determined, honourable, kind, supportive and brave – an inspiration to all.

“Congratulations to all recipients and thank you for everything you do to make our local community a better place.”
