Environment award a win for staff
The winner of the Environment & Sustainability Excellence Award at this year’s Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards says it's fitting recognition for the company’s 12 employees.
Moreton Bay Recycling managing director Rory Crundall, said staff at the 10-year-old Narangba company worked tirelessly.
“For me, the most meaning of the award is to show the team that they are working towards something,” Rory said.
“We have the best team around us – they work extremely hard day in, day out and it’s hard to show them the tangible results of what they do.”
Rory said Moreton Bay Recycling constantly strived to improve and with the region’s rapid growth and he expected there would be more demand for the business’s services.
The company accepts clean concrete waste from building and demolition projects, processing it onsite to create quality recycled concrete products.
Convenient, affordable disposal
The products include recycled aggregate, drainage recycled aggregate, compactable fill material and crusher dust that are used by builders, plumbers and landscapers.
“Common uses include garden beds, under turf, building pads, under roads, paths, driveways, slabs, drainage, decorative rock, retaining wall filling, and pipework drainage,” Rory said.
Customers can drop off waste and pick up fresh product in one place, further reducing their environmental footprint.
“Our concrete disposal yard offers local businesses that produce concrete waste a convenient, more sustainable, and more affordable alternative to landfill.
“And we offer more sustainable and affordable alternatives to gravels and rocks, with quality recycled concrete aggregates and other products.”
Thriving in Moreton Bay
Rory said Moreton Bay Recycling reused or recycled more than 99.9 percent of the waste delivered to them, processing a more than 72,000 per year.
“The concrete is expanding and we would like to expand into other areas, different streams of waste and make sure we can recycle that to the same degree.”
He says the region’s the perfect place for businesses to thrive.
“The region itself, the council, the opportunities are just amazing.
“If you want to start a business in Moreton Bay, I would highly recommend it – the support from council is amazing.”
The 2022 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards were presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT).
