Home of the Month: Exclusive look at 'Moonshadow' on Tangalooma

“Moonshadow”, a rare island paradise just 70 minutes across Moreton Bay, is not currently publicly listed - but it has been opened up for an exclusive first-look.

Named after Cat Stevens’ famous song, this stunning three-level home is absolute beach front, nestled among coconut trees at Tangalooma on Moreton Island.

Moonshadow’s elevated position gives breathtaking, uninterrupted views across the crystal marine park waters towards Brisbane.

With four bedrooms, three bathrooms and huge balconies, it makes an ideal permanent or holiday home.

Moonshadow’s current owners discovered Moreton Island during a weekend stay in Brisbane.

They saw a brochure for the island and made a 70-minute boat trip, which has become a 24-year love affair.

On arrival at Tangalooma, they walked along the beach path and found a sign for eight individually-designed beach front houses.

The location was perfect and lure of island life irresistible. The couple bought one of the blocks of land the same day - Sunday, February 17, 2022.

By Christmas, just 10 months later, Moonshadow had been built and finished by Peter Able, from Peregian Beach.

Now Moonshadow is waiting for new owners to fall in love with Tangalooma (Aboriginal name for “where fish gather”) and Moreton Island.

The resort is a gateway to the island with accommodation, dolphin feeding, dunes and of course the famous wreck diving.

Beyond Tangalooma, there are three townships to explore as well as the national park, which covers 98 per cent of Moreton Island and Moreton Bay Marine Park.

“Moonshadow really is a dream opportunity for anyone looking for a Moreton Island holiday home,” Michael Byriel, Sales & Marketing Consultant for Ray White One Group, said.
