Fireys fighting bush blaze

Fire fighters from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) are tackling a bushfire in the D’Aguilar National Park between Mt Mee and Somerset Dam.

The fire, which is currently reported as posing no threat to property, is burning near Sellin Rd and Lovedays Rd.

QPWS says residents may be affected by “significant” smoke haze in the area.

“They are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by,” says the QFES. “Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.”

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is currently at a permitted hazard reduction burn on Pumicestone Rd, between Clinker Rd and the Bruce Highway, at Elimbah.

Smoke and flames will be visible to motorists on the Bruce Highway and in surrounding areas. Smoke can reduce visibility and motorists should drive with caution.

Residents are again asked to close windows and doors and keep medications close by if they suffer from a respiratory condition.

Anyone concerned their property is under threat, should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
