First look at new hotel plans

Interior designs for the new $35m Dakabin Hotel have been unveiled by The Comiskey Group.

The hotel and shopping development, on 3.75 hectares at the corner of Alma and Old Gympie Rds, is taking shape fast.

Steel framework on the hotel is complete and work has started on the roof ahead of its anticipated opening in March/April next year.

The Comiskey Group has started the process of hiring staff for the new venue, with a variety of hospitality roles available.

Work is well underway at the new Dakabin Hotel.

The hotel’ triangular design is expected to make it a landmark and “be welcoming from the street”, said director David Comiskey.

“The expansive triangular windows will not only flood the interior with natural light but also showcase the vibrancy and enjoyment inside,” he said.

“We believe the hotel will naturally become a landmark of its community and we hope its something locals will be proud of.”

KP Architects and design studio CTRL Space have worked with The Comiskey Group, which is based in the Moreton Bay region, on the Dakabin Hotel.

It will have an indoor/outdoor restaurant with a water feature and modern Australian menu, sunken lounges and a sports bar.

Group Operations Manager, Brad Harding will head the hiring of staff at Dakabin Hotel and has already employed a number of chefs specialising in Asian cuisine.

“We encourage locals with hospitality experience to get in touch, there are many senior positions available,” he said.

“Those wanting industry experience, are also welcome to apply. We have a range of junior roles and positions that we can grow the right team member into.”

Businesses in the Shopping Village – which will include Subway, Cafe 63, Bottlemart, PizzaWorkz and Little Red Dumpling – are expected to start opening this month.

The Comiskey Group as also started building Strathpine Hotel, is renovating The Imperial Hotel in Eumundi and will soon settle on the Aura Hotel - Sunshine Coast’s largest pub and entertainment venue.
