Gallery: Dancers turn back the clock for Jane Austen-themed gala ball
Close to 100 people got dressed up and put their best foot forward at the recent Jane Austen-themed Ball, which was held at the Dayboro Community Hall on October 8.
The night featured a number of traditional dances from the Jane Austen period, live music from the band Phillip’s Dog, and a light supper.
Organiser Dr Heather Clark said “the hall was filled to capacity” and that everyone had a good time.

Join the fun
The event was hosted by the Samford Community Folk Dance Club – who regularly host fun, lively and social dances with an historical twist.
The dances are held at the Samford Farmers Hall, located at 30 Main St, Samford Village.
Next year the group plans on expanding to Arana Hills to host more monthly dances for the community to enjoy.
Heather said “everyone is welcome to attend, with no experience is necessary, and you don’t need a dance partner to join in the fun”.
There are four community dances left for the year – October 28, November 11 and 15, as well as December 9.
The cost is $4 per person, with dances suitable for people aged 10-75.

The group is supported by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and is part of Council’s Healthy and Active Program.
