Gallery: Thousands celebrate Dayboro Day

More than 20,000 people descended on the tiny township of Dayboro on May 28 for the highly anticipated return of the Dayboro Day Festival and Antique and Collectables Fair.

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, organisers said they were thrilled to see so many people turn out to show their support, with “traffic management estimating between 22,500 and 25,000 people throughout the course of the day”.

The day featured a grand parade through the main street as well as market stalls, amusement rides, a pineapple pie eating competition, waterless raft race and animal farm.

In addition, a number of antique vendors were set up at the pavilions inside at the Dayboro Showgrounds.

Following the grand parade, the winners of the Local Achievement Awards were announced. The winners were:

• Business of the Year – Craig Doyle Real Estate

• Young Achiever of the Year – Rohan Sweeney

• Resident of the Year – Di Evans

In addition, the winners of the pineapple pie eating competition were Julian (senior), and Harrison (junior).
