Generous donations after loss of 'selfless family man'

The family of a Warner man who died after a tragic car crash at Bracken Ridge on January 23 has been overwhelmed by community support.

Adam Lumsden’s brother-in-law, Brent Holden, says his family is touched by messages of support from people they have never met.

“There has also been people reach out who may have gone through something like this before, offering emotional support,” Brent says.

“Adam's passing was sudden and tragic, which has been extremely difficult for all his family and friends to comprehend.”

Loving father

Brent describes his brother-in-law as a family man who loved nothing more than his wife and two children.

“He also loved his sport and played inline hockey,” Brent says.

“Adam was selfless and nothing was ever a problem – he was very laid back and would give you the shirt off his back.”

Support for family

Brent set up a Go Fund Me page on January 25, with a goal of raising $50,000 to support Adam’s wife, Nikki, their five-year-old daughter and 15-month-old son.

Within four days, more than $42,000 has been raised.

“The response from the community has been overwhelming,” Brent says.

“We’ve been receiving messages of support and donations from people we have never met. We have seen donations from people who we went to school with, as well as Adam’s work colleagues, the inline hockey community and many more.”

Forever grateful

Brent says the money will be used to help cover ongoing costs for Adam’s family, including mortgage repayments.

“On behalf of Nikki’s family, I would like to thank the entire community for their support,” Brent says.

“Their generosity, along with our friends and family, will allow Nikki and the kids to stay in their family home.

“We will be forever grateful.”
