Donations flood in for Redcliffe Hospital's Giving Day

The first Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day was a “roaring success” with the latest figure showing more than $158,000 had been raised.

Donations poured in on Wednesday with every cent going to Redcliffe Hospital for health research, patient care, staff well-being, new equipment and other initiatives.

Among the donations was $50,000 from the Lewis Land Group, owners owns of The Belvedere and The Komo.

By this morning (Friday) the overall figure had risen to $158,479.

'Absolute privilege'

“When we looked to align ourselves with charities, we were approached by Raise it for Redcliffe (and) it really was a no-brainer,” Queensland Regional Manager Chris Allison said at the presentation.

“The pleasure is all ours, it’s an absolute privilege.”

It was one of many donations, of varying sizes, which flowed in to the delight of organisers.

Electric atmosphere

“Thank you to the generous people, businesses and community groups who made the first Redcliffe Hospital Giving day a roaring success!” RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske said.

“The atmosphere in the Giving Day phone room during the last couple of hours was electric, as we watched the tally pass our goal of $100,000 and reach $150,000.

“We can’t wait to report back to our community about the projects that can now happen.”

Great support

Sharyn Tidswell, Fundraising Manager – Redcliffe Hospital, RBWH Foundation, said it was “community at its best”.

“What the tally also represents is the engagement and trust of the Moreton Bay region in Redcliffe Hospital and its dedicated health care workforce,” she said.

“Special thanks to 99.7 Bridge FM and their volunteer presenters who hosted an outdoor broadcast radiothon, and everyone who fundraised, volunteered, got the word out and donated.

“Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day would not have been possible without your support.”
