Gold rush for North Lakes club

PK Taekwondo brought eight gold medals back up the Pacific Highway to North Lakes last week.

There were also seven silver and six bronze medals from the 14th Gold Coast Open Taekwondo Championships.

Amal Warakaulle led the way for PK Taekwondo with gold in Sparring and Poomsae. Daham Warakaulle also won gold in Sparring and bronze in Poomsae.

Yvette Boyama took gold in Sparring (Junior division) and lost at the quarter-final stage in Sparring (Open division).

Charice Patintingan, Lucas Garland, Lester Faaofonuu and Hajin Choi also won gold medals in Sparring.

Silver medals were won by Evan Han in Sparring and Poomsae, Jeffrey Park in Poomsae, Hazel Han, Eleanor Gray, Lawson Gray and Hugh Merretz in Sparring.

Ayden Bay and Juwon Han won bronze medals in Poomsae, while Evan Lim, George Patintingan and Alex Hinton took bronze in Sparring.

Aeryn Bay lost in his event at the quarter-final stage.

The squad was accompanied by Head of Team Kangho Park and coaches Anuke Warakaulle and Glenn Merretz.
