Grand finale to Hills Festival

Four weeks of events showcasing the Hills District will culminate in colour and entertainment during Hills Carnival on May 29.

The event is the grand finale for the Hills Festival, a celebration of the district which takes in Arana Hills, Bunya, Draper, Everton Hills, Ferny Hills and Albany Creek.

It is on at George Willmore Park from noon to 7pm. Entry is free.

Cr Matt Constance (Div 10) says the Hills Festival party has lasted the entire month of May.

“The festival culminates with the Hills Carnivale a fiesta of food, family and fun as well as a fireworks spectacular not to be missed,” Cr Constance says.

“The music line-up offers something for everyone in the family and roving entertainment and workshops will keep the kids entertained. I promise it’s the best free fun for your family before the winter months hit, so come and join the party.

“The only costs are the amusement rides, at the bargain price of $2 a go. So, this is a lot better value than the Ekka.”

Family fun event

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism Chairman Shane Newcombe says Hills Carnivale is a great family event, with plenty of on offer for all ages to enjoy.

“The packed program is split between two stages, with one stage catering just for the little ones in the designated Kids Zone,” Mr Newcombe says.

There they will find $2 amusement rides, workshops and games, and roving entertainers.

“Parents can wander through dozens of lifestyle markets and multicultural food stalls, while enjoying the talents of local musical acts. It will be a lovely way to spend the afternoon.”

The fireworks finale is at 7pm.

Hills Festival is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism in partnership with Moreton Bay Regional Council, with the assistance of silver sponsor Keperra Golf Club and media partners B105.
