Green light for new toilet block at boat ramp
A new toilet block will soon be built at Burpengary East’s Uhlmann Road Boat Ramp.
Moreton Bay Regional Council this week awarded the $466,278 building contract to Caboolture-based Verve Constructions.
Mayor Peter Flannery says the new amenities will make a big difference for locals and visitors heading out on the water.
“As one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, we need to make sure our region’s infrastructure meets the needs of our growing population while supporting our amazing lifestyle,” Mayor Flannery says.
Work starts soon
“We’ve listened to the community’s calls for an amenities block at the Uhlmann Road Boat Ramp and now the works are ready to get underway in the coming weeks.”
The State Government has contributed $205,000 to the project through its Works for Queensland program.
“This project is another example of Council accelerating projects to support local jobs and keep our economy on track while delivering much-needed new infrastructure,” Mayor Flannery says.
Jobs for locals
Bancroft MP Chris Whiting says the facility will benefit people who use the boat ramp, as well as supporting jobs to keep locals employed.
“This new infrastructure at Burpengary East will enhance the boat ramp site and make it even easier for locals to get out and enjoy the beautiful local waterways,” Mr Whiting says.
Division 2 Councillor Mark Booth says the project will add to the fantastic facilities already on offer at the boat ramp.
“With the pontoon and extra-wide boat ramp, Uhlmann Road is one of the most popular access sites to the Caboolture River so it’s important we have infrastructure to support its users,” Cr Booth says.
“Construction is expected to take 23 weeks to complete and I thank our residents for their patience while the works are underway to deliver these great new amenities.”
