Green light for precinct feedback

Plans to create 600 jobs in Narangba have moved a step closer with City of Moreton Bay cleared to start public consultation.

Council’s Narangba Innovation Precinct Planning Scheme Amendment aims to create 600 Special Industries jobs, while implementing health and safety protections.

The State has approved a 12-month extension of the Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) so Council can finalise the amendment and collect community feedback.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the proposed TLPI would mirror the conditions currently in place under the existing TLPI, which is set to expire on July 26, 2026.

“It’s important our residents have opportunities to work close to home for lifestyle and affordability, while adding $129 million to our economy and improving investor confidence locally,” he said.

“We completed extensive environmental health studies between 2020 and 2024 to inform the viability of these proposed changes.

“If approved, these changes will strike a better balance between safeguarding the community and supporting critical growth and investment in the Narangba Innovation Precinct, including for special industry uses.”

Council officers will now prepare a report outlining the next steps through the statutory Planning Scheme Amendment process to adoption.

This will include an opportunity for residents to have their say during a statutory consultation period, pending Council’s approval of the report.
