Head to the hills for Spring Harvest

A sumptuous celebration of food and produce from the Moreton Bay Region is headed to Arana Hills.

The Spring Harvest, part of the Tastes of Moreton Bay Feastival, features workshops, pop-up stalls brimming with local fare and free family activities.

Mayor Peter Flannery says it’s a great opportunity to sample local produce.

“The man who brought Ready Steady Cook into our homes and many great recipes, is coming to Narellan Park, Arana Hills to host the Spring Harvest,” he says.

“This is a unique event where local food makers will have the chance to setup market stalls and show off their creations alongside one of Australia’s most recognisable chefs.

“It’s a family fun day out with cooking demonstrations from both Alastair McLeod and award-winning ‘cake-trepreneur’ Pearly Sprinkles, who many will remember as a contestant from Zumbo’s Just Desserts.”

Taste tempters

Councillor Matt Constance (Div 10) says it’s the perfect day out for families to learn from some amazing chefs and sample sweet and savoury delights.

“I urge everyone to grab a picnic blanket and come on down to the Hills District where you’ll find plenty of cooking, markets and family activities,” he says.

“Half of the Spring Harvest will be outside in Narellan Park and the other half inside the Arana Hills Library where you can tour the library’s edible garden and participate in a wide range of family fun activities.

“You’ll be able to decorate your own cakes and cookies, and eat them of course, as part of Pearly Sprinkles’ engaging and playful workshop that will have the kids entertained from start to finish.

|“This is a free event, but you will need to make bookings through the Tastes of Moreton Bay website as there are limited spots available.|

“And we still have space for food makers who want to setup their market stalls alongside Alastair and Pearly and show off their products to the masses.”

Spring Harvest is at the Arana Hills Library and Narellan Park on September 3 from 10am-1pm.
