Hi-tech “supercharge” at Moreton Bay Central

Moreton Bay will become home to one of the “most ambitious technology projects ever undertaken in the world’, says Mayor Peter Flannery.

PsiQuantum is to establish an Asia-Pacific headquarters and build its utility-scale quantum Computer at Moreton Bay Central in Petrie.

The move will anchor the company at one of Queensland’s emerging hubs for advanced manufacturing, technology, and education.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said Council’s long-term vision for Moreton Bay Central aligned with the scale and ambition of the PsiQuantum project.

“This is one of the most ambitious technology projects ever undertaken in the world, and it is happening right here in City of Moreton Bay,” he said.

“It will supercharge Moreton Bay Central, making it one of Australia’s fastest-growing innovation ecosystems, and bring thousands of highly skilled jobs to the City.

“The extensive economic development opportunities it will generate, including the growth of high-potential businesses, will be a game changer for City of Moreton Bay leveraging our strong economic performance, growing population, capital city convenience.

“Opportunities like this don’t come around often and this project will revolutionise our City, highlighting our position as an incubator for innovation and technology.

“My message for start-ups and organisations looking for opportunities to build, experiment, and grow, is come and be part of the City of Tomorrow we are building here.”

PsiQuantum's mission to build the world's first utility-scale quantum computer requires speed, agility, and strong partnerships said Victor Peng, Interim Chief Executive Officer.

“City of Moreton Bay provides the infrastructure, scalability, and collaborative environment we need to deliver,” he said.

“We look forward to continued partnership with City of Moreton Bay and our partners in the Federal and Queensland governments to realise this technology.”

The project will strengthen Australia’s quantum capability and position Queensland and Australia as global leaders in quantum computing, advanced manufacturing and the future industries that will define the next generation of economic growth.

The project will be subject to Council’s usual approval and land disposal processes.
