Latest on major developments changing our region
The Moreton Bay Region is being transformed by a succession of major developments. Many are under way, some nearing completion. Here's the latest update on the progress of the multi-million dollar, job-creating, construction projects.
Deception Bay overpass
Work is gathering pace on the $163 million upgrade of Deception Bay Rd and the Bruce Highway with construction of the new bridges now under way.
There will also be an increase in earthworks and drainage across the site as well as more heavy machinery arriving.
When finished there will be two parallel bridges over the highway, two signal intersections, longer entry and exit ramps as well as new footpaths and bikeways.

Orion on Rowe
Work is progressing well at the huge Orion on Rowe development in Caboolture, where the 12 special disabilities apartments are on track be ready for occupants in June.
The four-story office building could be ready by August and will be followed by the 100-bed residential aged care facility and 93 apartment retirement development.
Public works on Rowe St and Grout St were completed last year. The development, by the KTQ Group, has been described as the first of its kind in Australia.
Caboolture Hospital
Piling has started on the new hospital building and multi-story carpark in the $394.5 million expansion of Caboolture Hospital.
The huge project is using land fill from the Cross River development in Brisbane and the first cranes are expected on site soon.
Pouring the first slabs will begin within months and the roof is expected by the end of the year when the new buildings will start taking shape.
Downer asphalt plant
Downer’s new state-of-the-art $20 million Sustainable Road Resource Centre at Brendale is on track to start production trials next month and be fully operational in April.
Work has been gathering pace on the 11.5-hectare site in Leitchs Rd, which will have a reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) processing plant and a Reconomy facility.
Most of the site’s infrastructure is in place with work on the next phase, the Sustainable Road Resource Centre, likely to begin next month.
Caboolture Watch House
The new Caboolture Watch House, in King St, may be ready earlier than expected, with May now its expected completion date.
The old watch house, which handled 4000-5000 prisoners a year, took its last one on March 6, 2020 after which demolition teams moved in.
Staff were redeployed to Redcliffe, Sandgate and Pine Rivers while the new 40-bed watch house was being built.
28 King St, Caboolture
The new commercial offices under construction at 28 King St, Caboolture are on schedule to top out, with the roof on, within a few weeks.
The ground floor services have already been "roughed in" with glazing around the perimeter.
Construction began in the middle of last year on the site which extends down to Esme St. Developer DeMartini Fletcher Property is working on it being completed by the middle of 2021.
Burpengary Station Village
Stage one of the new $40 million Burpengary Station Village, which will create 200 jobs, is set to open next month.
The shopping centre, part of a dual-level complex on Henderson Rd, is already 85 per cent leased and will operate alongside the new Burpengary Community Club.
Burpengary Community Club, on the lower level, will open in June and have a large bar and restaurant as well as 150 poker machines within its $5million fit out.
Caboolture Medical Hub
The tender processes are now complete and building work is expected to start this month on a new stand-alone private medical centre, at 120-124 McKean St, Caboolture.
When complete there will be a range of medical businesses directly across the road from the main Caboolture Hospital, which is undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion.
An estimated completion for the Caboolture Medical Hub is late 2021.
Oakey Flat Road
Weather permitting, the 27-week upgrade of Oakey Flat Rd between Ashbrook Dr and Lakefield Dr, will be finished in July.
Tree removal on Oakey Flat Rd has been completed and offset planting in nearby reserves done. At the time of writing excavation on the road was underway.
Temporary footpaths and lane switching will follow while stormwater pipe and pit relocation are underway.
North Lakes Junction
Construction is expected to start soon on the new North Lakes Junction development, on Anzac Ave with completion in February 2022.
The 7899sq m site, will have 14 shops ranging from retail to health and medical services, offices, fitness and beauty and cafes, with two more tenancies on the upper level.
There will also be 30 two and three-bedroom residential units for rent at the rear of the development, separate from the commercial buildings and with private access.
