It’s party time at the Bel

One of Redcliffe’s most iconic venues is celebrating a major milestone on Saturday.

The Belvedere Hotel at Woody Point will mark its 125th birthday on Saturday with a day-long community celebration.

It will include live music, family entertainment, giveaways, nostalgic menu favourites, a birthday cake and opportunities to share memories.

“125 years is an extraordinary milestone,” marketing manager Danielle said, “we're incredibly proud to be part of this community's story and Saturday is our chance to celebrate together.” 

  Originally established as a boarding house in the 1890s, ‘The Bel’ was transformed into a hotel by Thomas and Mary Snook in 1901.

It opened as Hook's Belvedere Hotel. In 1940 the original timber building was demolished and replaced with a modern art deco structure.

Brewery giant Castlemaine Perkins bought the venue in 1966 and in 2003 Lewis Land Group (Drinx) took ownership.

More recent upgrades include a $2 million revamp for its 115th birthday and in 2023 a $20 million renovation adding a second storey which took capacity to more than 1000 guests.

To celebrate its latest landmark - which was actually on Wednesday June 17 - The Belvedere is putting on a birthday party on Saturday.

Full program: 10am-1.30pm Face Painting; 11am-2pm Soloist - Elle Carsburg; 3-4pm Dance Studio; 5-8pm Band - Simian Sick; 7pm or 7.30pm (TBC), cutting the cake; 8pm-late: DJ Tegan Walker.

Throughout the day there will be merchandise giveaways, meat tray raffles, a Belvedere merchandise stall, old menu items, food giveaways and a free digital print photo booth.
