High School Musical, the award-winning Disney show, is coming to a stage in the Moreton Bay region next week.

More than 80 students and staff at Clontarf Beach State High School have been working on the production since late last year.

Their efforts through acting, dancing, singing, tech crew, backstage crew, hospitality and set painting will be seen on Friday June 6 and Saturday June 7, at 7pm.

The “one act edition” of High School Musical features basketball captain Troy Bolton (played by Jack Rogers) and shy academic Gabriella Montez (Clare Warrington).

They discover a shared love of singing and decide to audition for East High’s musical —much to the shock of their friends.

As Troy and Gabriella break free from their cliques, the school is thrown into chaos, with drama queen Sharpay Evans (Darcy Buckingham) determined to keep the spotlight on her with loyal twin Ryan (Laitham Robinson).

With friendship, teamwork, and a little courage, Troy and Gabriella prove that you don’t have to stick to the status quo to follow your dreams.

The show has been produced by Dan Teh, Andrea Cunningham and Beth Ben-Karmona and directed by Dan Teh with assistance from Britt Francis.

Choreography is by Andrea Cunningham with assistance from Tatum Marshall and Carleigh Purcell is stage manager.

Clontarf Beach State High School has an Opening Night Soiree which is $12 for a cheeseboard and $15 for a cheeseboard and mocktail.
