Join The Man Walk on International Men’s Day

The Man Walk Australia will celebrate International Men’s Day tomorrow, November 19, with seven marquee walks around Australia, including one at Redcliffe.

This year’s theme - Make Time for Your Mates – ties in perfectly with The Man Walk ethos of Walk-Talk-Support providing men around Australia a casual, barrier-free opportunity to connect, combat social isolation and strengthen the communities in which they live; simply walking side by side on a regular basis.

The Man Walk Founder Mark Burns says: “Making time for your mates is at the core of everything we do here at The Man Walk and what better way to celebrate this than to have some of our key Australian walks all step out together on Saturday.”

Organising committee member Damien Clarke says: “COVID taught us all a tough lesson, but one of the positives to come from the pandemic was the positive impacts we saw from the opportunity to connect with your local community, get outdoors, exercise regularly and look out for your mates.

“This is exactly why The Man Walk has been such a resounding success around the country. We’re excited to see new walks popping up around OZ each week and invite everyone to come for a walk with us, not only on Saturday, but on a regular ongoing basis.”

The Man Walk was founded in Kiama, NSW in 2018 by Mark Burns and a bunch of local mates who saw the benefit of starting their days with a regular walk around Sydney Harbour.

The simple concept has seen The Man Walk Australia now helping more than 80 communities achieve the same benefits on a regular basis, with thousands of men walking each week around the country; and some international walks now taking off.
