Local lawyers shortlisted for prestigious awards

Two former members of Moreton Bay City Council’s prosecution team have been shortlisted for prestigious national legal awards.

Jane Dillon and Miriam Grabec are both finalists in the 2024 Corporate Counsel Awards, which will be announced in Sydney in May.

Jane, who was until recently Council’s prosecutor, was shortlisted for the Government Lawyer of the Year award, while Miriam, Council’s former prosecution paralegal, is shortlisted for the Legal Operations Professional of the Year award.

The Lawyers’ Weekly Corporate Counsel Awards recognise excellence for top-performing in-house legal professionals across Australia.

A total of 158 finalists were chosen to compete for this year’s awards across 19 individual and 13 group categories.

Miriam and Jane moved to new employers this year, but say industry recognition for their work with Moreton Bay is the icing on the cake.

“We have been shortlisted against some very talented lawyers and legal professionals in companies like Westpac, Nestle and the Royal Melbourne Hospital,” Jane says.

“Just making the shortlist is an honour.”
