Legs were like jelly

After landing the Set for Life first prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years (total $4.8m) in March, the winner said she would resign from her job and live in the country.

“When I initially saw the win come up on the screen I screamed, I had watery eyes and my legs were like jelly,” she said.

The woman, who bought the ticket at Kippa-Ring Village News, said the win came during what had been a “really, really tough time” for her and her husband.

“We always dreamt of buying a few acres and having animals, so we will do that,” she said.

A Redcliffe man did not check his Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket for a week before discovering he had won Division One and $1m in November.

“I had no idea! It’s fantastic news!” he said. His ticket was the first Division One winner in the Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto sold at Charmed Planet on Victoria Ave.

From cup to a mug

A retired Strathpine couple was looking forward to upgrading from a cup to a mug of coffee after winning $1m in a Division One Monday Gold Lotto draw in January.

The husband said his wife wanted to go to Hawaii. “With this win, I think we’ll be able to manage that! We’ll be travelling at the front of the plane too!” he laughed.

“I said to my wife when we go out for our daily cappuccino instead of getting it in a cup, I’ll splash out and get it in a mug. I might also get a piece of cake too!”

The winning couple bought their 12-game marked entry at Nextra Strathpine at Westfield Strathpine. It was the second division one winning entry at the shop at that time.

The Caloundra woman, whose $60m Powerball ticket came from Caloundra Newsagency, Bullcock St, didn’t believe a Lott official when first contacted in February about her win.

“I need to double check this is real. I’m not sure I believe you,” she said, later adding “I’ll probably be retiring early. I don’t think I’ll go back to work that’s for sure!”

The figures include Division One and first prizes for Saturday Gold Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot, Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot, Powerball, Oz Lotto and Super 66. Instant Scratch-Its are treated as a different type of prize.
