Grace Swimming’s Macey Lawler missed an Australian Age Championship swimming medal by the narrowest of margins on the Gold Coast last week.

Lawler finished fourth in the 13 Years 50m backstroke final just 0.01 of a second from bringing home a bronze medal.

It was one of five events for the Rothwell-based swimmer who was ninth the 200m backstroke and 13th in the 100m backstroke B final, beating the 10th placed finisher’s time.

Lawler was also 29th in the country over 50m freestyle and 36th in the 100m freestyle heats.

She was also 22nd in the 100m freestyle, 37th over the 50m butterfly and 47th in the 200m freestyle.

Alia Shaw was 31st in the Australia for the 14 Years 400m freestyle and 53rd in the 200m freestyle events.

The Australian Age Championships attracted more than 2500 swimmers from more than 100 clubs from across the nation.
