Plans have been submitted for a three-stage renovation and expansion of the church which launched one of Moreton Bay region’s major schools.

Oasis Church, beside Genesis Christian College on Youngs Crossing Rd, Bray Park, has lodged a development application (DA) with Moreton Bay City Council.

The proposal, on Council’s DA Tracker website, shows stage one includes a new foyer/entry, building a new kitchen and covered outdoor plaza area.

Stage two would see the auditorium extended and re-orientated to link with the new entry and site’s eastern side would be landscaped.

In stage three the church office and youth hall would be replaced by a new two-storey building with a reception, admin area, hall, children/youth/meeting spaces.

New car parking and servicing areas are to be on the north side of the building.

When finished, the expansion would increase the not-for-profit church’s gross floor area by more than 150 per cent, from 1472sqm to 3820sqm.

The Reformed Church of Stafford bought the land on Youngs Crossing Rd in 1987 and relocated there in 1989.

It became Oasis Church in the same year and opened Genesis Christian College in 1991 with 35 students in the church and two demountables.

Plans have also been submitted for a new single story “place of worship (gospel meeting hall)” in Morayfield.

The building, on a vacant block at the corner of Elm Court and Oakey Flat Rd, would be for “family prayer meetings” according to the DA.

Service times would be 6-7.30am on Sundays and 6.30-8pm Mondays for around 40-50 people who would arrive and leave 15 minutes either side of those times.

No weddings, christenings, funerals or larger gatherings would be held - such events would be at venues in Bridges Rd, Morayfield and Rowley Rd, Burpengary.

The proposed building would have a gross floor area of 127.5sqm and parking would be available on site.
