Masterplan for Old Petrie Town

A taskforce review has recommended Old Petrie Town remains for “community use” when City of Moreton Bay takes over the site.

From July 1 2025, Council will manage the Dayboro Rd venue which has been leased to Y Queensland for 20 years.

Ahead of the change, an Old Petrie Town Councillor Taskforce considered site assessments by Council officers and external advisers.

Council has agreed to a master plan being developed by June and supported the continued use of infrastructure at Old Petrie Town, where it is safe and compliant.

A Council spokesperson said the taskforce also recommended City of Moreton Bay enters into community leases for registered community groups currently at the site.

It was agreed commercial leases will be tendered, evaluated and awarded in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009 and Local Government Regulation 2012.

The spokesperson said Council will now engage with key stakeholders following its endorsement of the Old Petrie Town Councillor Taskforce recommendations.

Y Queensland has been on the site since 1998 and held the head-lease since 2005, managing sub-leasing and sub-licensing during this period.

The Old Petrie Town Councillor Taskforce members were Cr Adam Hain, Cr Yvonne Barlow, Cr Jim Moloney, Cr Cath Tonks and Cr Darren Grimwade.
