Masters poised for first pitch

Queensland’s largest softball event – with more than 1800 players, officials and supporters - starts tomorrow morning at venues across Moreton Bay region.

In total, 114 teams have entered the 25th annual Softball Queensland Masters Tournament which runs from Friday to Sunday (August 1-3).

They will play at Redcliffe Leagues Softball Association, Caboolture Sports Softball Association, Redcliffe Padres Baseball Club and Redcliffe Junior Rugby Union Club.

Softball Queensland has teamed-up with City of Moreton Bay since 2019 to host events in this region – and the Masters will return again next year.

There are also plans to attract more teams from Queensland, NSW, Victoria and New Zealand for future tournaments.

“Sponsoring the Masters Softball reflects our ongoing commitment to grassroots sport and strengthens Moreton Bay’s reputation as a leading destination for both interstate and intrastate events,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

"We look forward to welcoming some of Queensland’s most talented softballers and their families to enjoy the spirited competition and our beautify city."

More than 350 games are to be played during the three-day tournament with an 8am start at all venues.

Grand Finals of all 17 Women’s Divisions and six Men’s Divisions are expected to start at 3pm on Sunday.
