Milestone moment for Moreton Bay city

Waraba has its first residents – and pet – after Nina and Callum Richter collected the keys to their home in Moreton Bay’s newest city.
The Brisbane couple and dog Harper yesterday moved into their new home at Lilywood Landings, being delivered by Lennium Homes.
The couple, who were renting in Chermside West, have moved into a single storey four-bedroom, two-bathroom home, by Integrale Homes.
“It’s really exciting to think we are the first homeowners to move in,” said Nina, who with Callum was eligible for the State Government’s First Home Owner Grant.
“It might be a bit quiet for a few weeks with just a few of us here, but we can’t wait to meet our new neighbours when they join us.”
Formerly known as Caboolture West, Waraba, which means “burn” in the Kabi Kabi language, is a 40-year project in the City of Moreton Bay.
It will eventually supply around 30,000 homes, plus schools, parks, sporting fields and a town centre for 70,000 people – approximately the size of Mackay.
Nina and Callum chose Lilywood Landings, the first community in Waraba, for price and location, as they have family on the Sunshine Coast and work in Brisbane.
“Lilywood is very affordable compared to other areas we looked at and is close to established schools and parks, which means when we decide to start a family everything is ready to go,” Nina said.
“Given Waraba is a Priority Development Area, we know it will benefit from government funding in the years to come so there will be plenty of facilities for residents.”
Callum added: “It’s going to be fantastic to not have to pay someone else’s mortgage anymore,” he said. “There is so much to celebrate.”
Lennium Group Development Manager Ian Worthington welcomed the Richters saying: “It’s incredibly special to see our very first residents moving in,” he said.
“We’re proud of what’s been achieved so far at Lilywood Landings and look forward to watching the community grow with each new resident who joins us.”
Integrale Homes Director Murray Reilly said: “Building your first home is a big step and we’re so pleased Callum and Nina felt supported throughout the process.
“It’s exciting to be part of something bigger – helping create homes and helping shape a brand-new community from the ground up. There’s a real sense this place is going to be something special.”
Lilywood Landings has almost 100 homes under construction, a Master Builders Queensland Display Village heading for competition and the latest land release will be unveiled soon.
