National glory for PK team

North Lakes-based PK Taekwondo won a host of medals and titles at the weekend’s National Championships.

The team of 18 athletes and six coaches won three gold, two silver and seven bronze medals at the three-day event in Adelaide.

National gold medals went to PK Taekwondo’s Juwon Han (Sparring), Young Park (Sparring) and Hayden Downing (Para-Poomsae).

Silver medals were won by Noah Garland (Sparring) and Isaac Hagen (Para-Poomsae).

There were bronze medals for Jeffrey Park (Sparring), Alex Hinton (Sparring), Max Russell (Sparring), Evan Lim (Sparring), Elanor Dexter (Sparring), Jumi Nam (Poomsea Forms), Isaac Hagen (Sparring) and Amal Warakaulle (Poomsae).

Lucas Garland, Justin Naismith, Kayla Park and Bryson Song all reached the quarter finals of their competitions.

Jumi Nam (Sparring), Ethan Lin (Sparring) and Amal Warakaulle reached their Round of 16, while Daham Warakaulle (Sparring) made the Round of 32.

PK Taekwondo’s coaches were: Kangho Park (Head Coach), Anuke Warakaulle, Alan Garland, Seunghun Nam, Kirk Russell and Chris Hinton.

The National Championships attracted an entry of around 2000 entries from across Australia.
