Nationals next for young fighters
North Lakes-based PK Taekwondo warmed up for the National Championships with a host of medals at the Brisbane Open.
PK Taekwondo had 33 competitors and nine coaches at the Nissan Arena in Nathan for Saturday’s event.
They brought home 18 gold medals, 10 silver and three bronze from the Sparring, Poomsae (Forms) and Para-Poomsae disciplines.
Head instructor Kango Park described the haul as a “big achievement” and a “great checkpoint” ahead of the national titles.
Many of the medal winners are now preparing for the Australian championships in Adelaide on October 3-5.
Twenty-one members of PK Taekwondo booked their places at the recent Queensland State Selections.
The number is believed to be a record for the club.
