New On Demand Service for Bribie

Bribie residents are to get a new On Demand Transport service, with an experienced local operator to deliver the three-year trial.

Caboolture Bus Lines will provide a “flexible, affordable and modern public transport option designed for the needs of the local community”.

Residents will be able to use the service for just 50 cents - through to the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares - to get to work, healthcare, shopping and social activities.

The on-demand service, which will also do return runs, will launch later this year with bookings to be made online, by phone or an app.

It is expected to cover all residential areas of Bribie, expanding transport to areas not currently serviced by traditional bus routes and improve links into the wider Translink network.

The new service will operate seven days a week, with early morning and evening travel options to align with work hours and community needs.

“This marks a significant step forward for Bribie Island residents, who are set to benefit from an On Demand Transport service that reflects how locals live, work, connect and move around their community,” Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said.

“The trial will deliver a flexible, affordable and modern public transport option, making it easier for a pensioner to get to a medical appointment or student to pick up an additional shift.”

Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan said locals will, for the first time, have access to an On Demand public transport service that puts them at the centre of transport planning.

“After a decade of being left behind, this is a genuine step towards a better lifestyle and a stronger economy for Bribie Island,” she said.

The new Bribie Island On Demand Transport service builds on models already operating across Queensland.
