New water playground among top suggestions for park upgrade

A new water playground or skate park are among the top suggestions Moreton Bay residents would like to see included in the redevelopment of Centenary Lakes Park in Caboolture.

More than 100 residents shared their thoughts and ideas for the upgrades as part of Council’s community consultation, which closed on July 13.

Mayor Peter Flannery says Council will now evaluate the comments and develop a Master Plan to ensure the park meets the community needs and expectations in the future.

“This is a great example of Council’s commitment to bringing the community voices into our planning and decision-making for the future of Centenary Lakes,” Cr Flannery says.

“We have received comments from more than 100 residents online who have provided helpful feedback.

“We also held a drop-in session and spoke with 50 residents and met with the sporting clubs that call Centenary Lakes home to get an idea of their needs moving forward.

“Although evaluating the feedback is still early stages, it is clear the community want to see better flood resilience for the sporting clubs and improved safety in the park, including lighting upgrades.

“Building a new skatepark or water playground were also popular suggestions.”

Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain says Council will consult with the community again when they share the draft Master Plan.

“We will share that draft masterplan with the community so you can provide more feedback,” Cr Hain says.

“I would like to thank the community for having their say on the exciting future of Caboolture’s sport and recreation hub.

“I know that the revitalised park will be loved by locals but also visitors to the region.”
