First residents start moving in

The first three residents have moved into Orion on Rowe, a new specialist disability accommodation (SDA) in Caboolture.

Designed for those with and without disabilities, Orion on Rowe has independent apartments and carer accommodation.

It is within a broader community development which will include offices, retail, retirement living and an aged-care facility.

Sallie Uren, sister of one of the new residents, said it fulfilled one of her brother Robert’s “main goals to live in his own home in Caboolture”.

Developer KTQ Group, which will run Orion on Rowe, MS Queensland and Federal Member for Longman Terry Young toured the new homes recently.

MS Queensland, which has more than 60 years’ experience supporting those living with MS, will provide the Supported Independent Living (SIL) 24/7 care.

Work continues at the Orion on Rowe site with more developments planned

Community Housing Limited (CHL) will act as the SDA housing provider.

“This accommodation is an addition to Caboolture and an important step forward in providing independent homes for people in the area living with a disability,” MS Queensland’s General Manager – Services and Operations, Paul Brunyee said.

KTQ’s chief executive Drew Steptoe said Orion on Rowe was the result of years of research and planning, saying “it will be a national stand-out”.

“We believe that the inclusive model will enrich the social fabric which brings our community together – that’s the aim here. A great outcome for all,” Mr Steptoe said.

Mr Steptoe acknowledged support received for the project from Moreton Bay Regional Council and both state and federal governments.

“As well as supporting jobs and offering opportunities for businesses, this complex may set the standard for future development in Caboolture CBD,” Federal Member for Longman Terry Young said.
