Paddling with passion
A petals on the water ceremony and a field of mini women will be among the activities when the Redcliffe Pink Snapdragons Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Club hosts a Come and Try day on Saturday.
Sonia Anger from the club says members are active in promoting breast cancer awareness through their participation in the sport of dragon boat racing and fundraising activities.
“Dragon boat paddling is physical exercise that is beneficial to recovery and demonstrates that there is life after breast cancer,” Sonia says.
“It not only improves physical health, but also assists with the emotional and social recovery after a breast cancer diagnosis.
“It is suitable for all ages and abilities.”
Give it a go
Sonia says breast cancer survivor dragon boat paddlers have the chance to compete in racing at local, national and international regattas.
The Pink Snapdragons paddle on Saturday mornings on the canals at Newport.
The Come and Try day is on October 30 from 9am, followed by morning tea.
