Paving way for "$50m mega-complex"
Earthworks will start ramping up next week on a new $50 million hotel development at Strathpine.
A five-hectare site, opposite Pine Rivers Park on Gympie Rd, will be home to the Comiskey Group’s new Country Club Hotel.
Set to open next year, it will also be an indoor sporting and recreation complex, just 500m along the road from the old Country Club Hotel.
“It’s a big area and there’s a lot of earth to move around with cutting the back of the site,” Director Robert Comiskey said.
“The earthworks have been underway for a while and that will ramp up next week.”

Described on the Comiskey Group website as a "highly anticipated $50 million mega-complex", plans include sinking around 1000 piers to support the car park above the flood area.
Mr Comiskey said two pier machines will be on the site for around three months to work on the suspended car park area.
When finished the hotel will have many “pub” facilities including indoor and outdoor dining, live music, bars, beer garden, gaming room and an arcade room.
There will also be an eight-lane bowling alley, two pickleball courts, two virtual baseball simulators, four karaoke rooms, and two half-sized basketball courts.
A steak house and American barbecue pit will also feature at The Country Club Hotel, named after one of Strathpine’s most popular venues.

Built in the 1950s and 1960s beside Council's offices in Strathpine, the old Country Club Hotel replaced the Clyde Hotel, before being demolished in the early 2000s.
Comiskey Group Director David Comiskey had his first job working in the liquor barn.
“The original Country Club Hotel was demolished about 15 to 20 years ago, but stood for 20 to 25 years,” he said. “Anyone from the area would know of it.
“We wanted to honour one of Strathpine’s most beloved past locals, which is why we’ve named the new venue The Country Club Hotel.”
