Big crowds turned out to enjoy Australia Day celebrations at Scarborough and Bribie Island yesterday.

The two major events were proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT).

Scarborough Beach Park hosted Music in the Park Scarborough – an afternoon of live music and entertainment – which was enjoyed by about 4000 people.

Children enjoyed a range of free activities including facepainting, water colour painting, DIY candle workshop, aquatic activities and gardening.

The beachside markets were a hit, with locals and visitors enjoying food trucks and market stalls.

The Australia Day Fireworks on Bribie Island event was also popular, with thousand attending the festivities at Brennan Park.

Children enjoyed free activities including plaster painting, free printed photos and plenty of games.

Locals and visitors lined the foreshore to take in live entertainment and a fireworks display from two locations.
