RAYS gets $300,000 boost

Redcliffe Area Youth Space (RAYS) has received $300,000 as part of the State Government’s $50 million funding to combat youth crime and support at-risk young people.

The funding will help RAYS expand its services, over two years, for those aged 8-17 experiencing disadvantage, disengagement, or barriers to education and employment.

It also forms part of the government’s broader commitment to providing early intervention and practical support for vulnerable youth.

“RAYS provides a safe and supportive space for young people in Redcliffe, helping them to overcome challenges, re-engage with education, and build brighter futures,” Kerri-Anne Dooley, State Member for Redcliffe, said.

“This funding ensures that important work can continue and expand,”

RAYS Chief Executive Officer Amy Mayes said the funding would have a lasting impact on the not-for-profit organisation’s ability to respond to the needs of local young people.

“This investment allows us to reach more young people who are doing it tough and ensure they have access to counselling, mentoring, and skills development opportunities,” she said.

The $300,000 grant will be used to expand RAYS’ youth engagement and wellbeing programs, including case management, mental health support, and education re-engagement.
