Redcliffe aims to be 'in the mix'

After challenging for a finals position for most of last season, Redcliffe Leagues is determined to be in the mix at the business end of the 2022 Brisbane Women's Hockey Premier League.

Head coach David Carlson says his team needs to be more consistent in order to secure Redcliffe Leagues' first women's Division 1 playoffs berth in several decades.

Redcliffe Leagues looked set to end a 37-year finals drought last year, before losing its final six games of the season.

"Our goals"

Further highlighting the team's inconsistency, Redcliffe Leagues beat competition leaders Easts but then lost to Commercial and Norths, teams ranked below them on the ladder.

"Our goals for this year are to continue to grow as a group and look to be a more consistent team with results," Carlson said.

"We are looking to be an exciting team in attack and be a lot more resilient in defence, which is something we feel will be a big turn-around from last season."

New signings

As well as new signings Sam Morris and Jordan Bliss, Carlson nominated Annelyse Tevant, Hannah Sanders (pictured above), Amy Beikoff and Jordn Office as other players to watch this season.

Redcliffe Leagues qualified for the final of the Tiger Turf Cup pre-season tournament for the first time in February, but has had a mixed start to the season proper.

They opened the season with a 6-2 loss to Commercial before beating Valley 1-0 and losing 2-0 to University of Queensland.
