Rethinking women’s fat loss

For many women across Moreton Bay, the usual formula of more workouts and stricter eating does not always deliver the results it once did.

Despite staying active and making healthy choices, some women find stubborn areas around the stomach, hips and thighs simply do not respond. This can be particularly common during peri-menopause, menopause or busy life stages where stress, hormones and time pressures all play a role.

It is a frustration Larni Mailer sees regularly at HYPOXI North Lakes.

“Many of the women we see feel like they are doing everything right, but their body just is not responding the way it used to,” Ms Mailer said.

Located inside Fernwood North Lakes, HYPOXI operates as a separate business within the female-only gym environment. The studio focuses specifically on targeted fat loss support, offering a structured and low-impact alternative to traditional training.

The system combines gentle cycling sessions with alternating vacuum and compression technology, designed to increase circulation to common “stubborn” areas such as the stomach, hips and thighs. The goal is to help the body access stored fat more efficiently in areas that often resist standard exercise.

More than just a workout

While the technology is a key feature, Ms Mailer said the broader support model is what makes the difference.

“It is not just about the machine,” she said. “It is the structure, the accountability and the fact that every woman has a personalised plan.”

Each client begins with a consultation, including measurements and an Evolt body scan, before undertaking guided 30-minute sessions. Nutrition guidance is also incorporated into the program.

HYPOXI North Lakes works with women from across the region, including time-poor professionals, mothers returning to fitness and those navigating hormonal changes.

“The women who see the strongest results are not necessarily the youngest or the fittest. They are the ones who are ready for support and a more strategic approach.”

Beyond physical changes, Ms Mailer said many clients report improved confidence and energy.

“Often what changes first is not just the measurements. It is how they feel about themselves.”

HYPOXI North Lakes offers free consultations and a $29 trial session. Women do not need to be Fernwood members to participate.
